About the Director

Professor Hasan Al-Halees is the director of the Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition (MMPC) for the three-year term 2008-2011.

Dr. Hasan Al-Halees is a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Saginaw Valley State University. He joined the faculty of Saginaw Valley State University in 1999. He has an MSc in Mathematics from The Middle East Technical University (Turkey).  He holds an MA in Mathematics and an MS in Engineering Sciences both from University of Toledo. He joined Central Michigan University to work for his Ph.D in functional analysis under the supervision of Professor Richard Fleming, a well known researcher, author, and research referee in the subject. His Ph.D thesis is titled “Banach-Stone Theorem for Nice Operators on Banach Function Modules”. He is still engaging with Professor Fleming in research and has co-authored papers with him in the same subject.  He is a co-author of papers in directed covering designs of Combinatorics. He supervised undergraduate researches in Mathematics. Besides his main interest in Banach spaces of continuous functions, he also has interest in Matrix Theory.
